But the adidas AG we know today was founded in 1948 by Adolf Dassler. The trade mark with the three stripes and the three leaves, also called trefoil, is to symbolise the Olympic spirit which connects the three continental plates. Therefore, it is clear that the brand has its roots in the field of sports. Thanks to several sports events, the brand awareness rose higher and higher. The name of the brand originates from the founder's nickname "Adi" combined with the first three letters of his family name. At the 1954 FIFA World Cup, the German national team wore adidas football shoes thus being able to bring off the "Miracle of Berne".
