adidas Performance

The story of adidas started in a small town in Germany, where Adi Dassler tinkered in his mother's wash kitchen. He founded the „Gebrüder Dassler Schuhfabrik“ in 1924 with his mission in mind to „provide athletes with the best possible equipment“. Lina Radke won a Gold medal in 1928 and Jesse Owens also won Gold in 1936, both wearing Adi Dassler's shoes. These were the first milestones of the company. Adi Dassler's enthusiasm for sports led to the success of the company as he understood the needs of athletes. He met them in their familiar environment and, with the help of their feedback, was able to improve the products he developed. In addition, he earned the trust of the athletes.

adidas Performance

In 1949, Adi Dassler founded the „Adi Dassler adidas Sportschuhfabrik“ in Herzogenaurach and registered a shoe with the 3-Stripes, which have soon become known worldwide. The global success of the company was then accelerated by lightweight football boots with screw-in-studs. The German national football team wore the football boots designed by Adi Dassler and won the 1954 World Cup Final. The company was a household name on pitches from then on and has launched many innovative products over the years. And Adi Dassler stayed in touch with the athletes to further improve the products and help athletes boost their performance.

The founder's ambition contributed to the global success of the company, and there were three words that played an important part: listen, test, and modify. Adi Dassler listened to athletes and used their feedback. He and his employees tested the products extensively and under real conditions. Then they modified everything that was not ideal. Numerous innovative products for various sports were developed in this way. Even today, the adidas Innovation Team does research and carries out tests on the products and works in close collaboration with athletes around the globe. Already in 1989 the company invented the adidas Torsion system, which even today is employed in many adidas running shoes. In 2004, the company launched the fastest track shoe with spikes yet: the adidas adizero which is still part of the wide range of products. Another great invention followed in 2013: the Energy Boost running shoe caused a stir with its cushioning midsole. The adidas boost midsole consists of a material that is very responsive and delivers incredible energy return.
