Every pair of Baabuk's shoes is handmade in individual steps from natural and recycled materials. The company traditionally uses only three components: pure sheep's wool, water and soap. You can wear these comfortable shoes and slippers without socks as the upper has no skin-irritating seams due to a meticulous felting technique. The shoe material is then hammered and brushed to become water-repellent and highly sturdy. The sheep's wool used has many advantages as compared to synthetic fibres: wool is very warm and soft, breathable, antibacterial and odour-inhibiting. But this very durable and lightweight natural fibre is also temperature-regulating – it keeps your feet warm in winter and cool in summer. Therefore, it's not surprising that Baabuk's casual sneakers and Urban Woolers are hard to top when it comes to comfort. The longer you wear them the more comfortable they get as the wool of the upper gradually adapts to the individual shape of your feet. Baabuk's designers combine the traditional look of Russian Valenki boots with colourful details and fashionable styling.
Environmental protection, sustainability and fairness are very important to Baabuk. A Swiss startup company, Baabuk is one of few brands in Europe that is B-corp certified. This means that the company meets the highest standards of verified, overall social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability. The shearings come from well-treated sheep from the natural park Serra da Estrela in Portugal and are processed in a traditional manufactory in Manteigas. Baabuk's slippers are produced in a small workshop in Nepal, which was founded from scratch by Dan and Galina Witting. The employees in the workshops receive higher than average salaries and have good working conditions.
Eco-friendly, comfortable and stylish – Baabuk's innovative shoes leave nothing to be desired. These lightweight and versatile sneakers, boots and slippers appeal to demanding customers due to highest quality and comfort. Slip in and feel good!
