Baabuk

Having cold feet is a nuisance – not only in winter. But there's a solution: A young Swiss brand named Baabuk has set its sights on producing warm shoes from natural sheep's wool in an ecologically sustainable and ethical way. Based on the model of Siberian Valenki boots, Baabuk's stylish sneakers, slippers and boots are hand-felted of one piece using traditional methods. This small startup company was founded by Galina and Dan Witting in 2013, two likeable Swiss living abroad, who are passionate about wool. Their innovative wool felt boots were honoured with the ISPO Gold Winner Award in the outdoor section already four years later.

Baabuk

Every pair of Baabuk's shoes is handmade in individual steps from natural and recycled materials. The company traditionally uses only three components: pure sheep's wool, water and soap. You can wear these comfortable shoes and slippers without socks as the upper has no skin-irritating seams due to a meticulous felting technique. The shoe material is then hammered and brushed to become water-repellent and highly sturdy. The sheep's wool used has many advantages as compared to synthetic fibres: wool is very warm and soft, breathable, antibacterial and odour-inhibiting. But this very durable and lightweight natural fibre is also temperature-regulating – it keeps your feet warm in winter and cool in summer. Therefore, it's not surprising that Baabuk's casual sneakers and Urban Woolers are hard to top when it comes to comfort. The longer you wear them the more comfortable they get as the wool of the upper gradually adapts to the individual shape of your feet. Baabuk's designers combine the traditional look of Russian Valenki boots with colourful details and fashionable styling. You can find different styles for men and women at schuhdealer.com which convince due to best comfort.

Environmental protection, sustainability and fairness are very important to Baabuk. A Swiss startup company, Baabuk is one of few brands in Europe that is B-corp certified. This means that the company meets the highest standards of verified, overall social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability. The shearings come from well-treated sheep from the natural park Serra da Estrela in Portugal and are processed in a traditional manufactory in Manteigas. Baabuk's slippers are produced in a small workshop in Nepal, which was founded from scratch by Dan and Galina Witting. The employees in the workshops receive higher than average salaries and have good working conditions.

Eco-friendly, comfortable and stylish – Baabuk's innovative shoes leave nothing to be desired. These lightweight and versatile sneakers, boots and slippers appeal to demanding customers due to highest quality and comfort. Slip in and feel good!
