Lacoste

The french tennis player René Lacoste was the name giver and founder of the Lacoste brand. He lived from 1904 to 1996 and won several tournaments at the French Open, at Wimbledon and at the US Open. At the beginning, his father was in no way enthusiastic about the wish of René to play tennis. In the end, his father gave him the permission to play, but upon condition that René should achieve his first international success within five years. His incredible talent and endurance enabled him to become a world-class player within this short period of time. In 1924, he won the Olympic Games and further victories were to follow. For health reasons, he had to quit his favourite sport at the age of only 25 years. From then on, he devoted himself to the world of fashion.

Lacoste

The Lacoste company first used to produce polo shirts for tennis players which have come to be the brand's most famous garment. Decorated with the green crocodile, they have become an integral part of the world of tennis. Back then, tennis players only wore white tennis clothes, but with Lacoste this was about to change: The polo shirts and also tennis clothes produced later on brought colour into the snow-white world of tennis, still remaining fashionable and elegant. Hence, the brand revolutionised the fashion of the tennis players at that time. The crocodile as its trademark derived from the founder's nickname he has already had since his youth and kept it until his death because of his vigour and endurance. He wasn't only ambitious on the tennis court, but also in the world of fashion and business he was able to assert himself and his label over decades. Quite early, the founding father had the idea to stitch the green crocodile on the products as a visible woven badge. He started a trend since logos of other brands like adidas or Nike often are printed or embroidered on the products.

Even beyond the world of sports, the brand has come to be an elegant brand many people prefer to wear. Apart from the original polo shirts, decent clothes like pants, jackets and dresses as well as perfume, jewellery, watches, bags, sunglasses or shoes can be found on the market. Due to the wearing comfort plus the selection and fabrication of high-quality materials, the products of the brand are unique. Always decorated with the green crocodile, the shoes for men and women have become real trendsetters. In the course of this, the brand still today pursues a plain and elegant line. The Lacoste ballerinas, for example, are a good choice in the summer, underlining the sporty style of the woman wearing them. Lacoste shoes - the right choice on any occasion.
