Why vegan shoes?
Veganism is a way of living which rejects the use of any animal product. Hence, vegan living people avoid the consumption or use of products such as meat, fish, dairy goods, eggs, honey, wool and leather – and this for understandable reasons. Unfortunately, the pictures we all know from the storybooks of our childhood – an idyllic farm with free-living cows and pigs – do not reflect the reality of factory farming which is very prevalent nowadays. The life of a pig or cow living on a factory farm has nothing in common with the pictures our children like to look at. Pigs are penned in metal boxes; chickens live in confined spaces, being stuffed with medicines as a precaution to avoid diseases and so on and so forth – the list is long. Furthermore, vegans reject any exploitation of animals. Therefore, it is hardly surprising that vegans also pay attention to the materials used for the production of shoes.
