The history of sneakers
At the beginning of the 20th century, Keds shoes, which are very popular among sneaker fans, were launched and immediately made the cash tills ring. Until 1990 the term “sneaker” didn’t mean anything to Germans. More and more Anglicisms appeared in the German language so also this term was adopted by the Germans. The name of the shoes originates from their rubber soles and how quiet they are on the ground. Today you can obtain them in many different colours and styles. They will make your outfit something special no matter if you choose a pair of classic adidas sneakers, which were first worn at the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam, or a pair of punk Converse Chucks, which were named after basketball player Chuck Taylor in 1923.
Not only are sneakers suitable for sports but they are designed in line with the latest trends as part of the world of fashion. Nowadays high-quality materials, e.g. leather, are used to produce a wide variety of sneakers. They were initially produced for men but manufacturers have adapted the shoes to female feet so by now the variety of women’s sneakers is as diversified as the variety of men’s sneakers.
These shoes have come to be part of a modern and fashion-conscious lifestyle so hardly anyone can get around them. Thanks to many fashionable colours and materials the brands use for the creation of new sneakers, every woman can find her own style and individually emphasise her personality.
